About the Artist
Kevin Thomas Koehler was born and raised in Wisconsin many decades ago, before cell phones and the Internet. His parents started him in piano lessons at age 9. In high school, Kevin accompanied soloists and choirs, played at weddings, funerals, and churches, and was pianist for several theater productions. At UW-Madison he triple-majored in Computer Science, Spanish and Piano Performance.
After college, Kevin was an Information Systems Developer and Database Administrator for 12 years. When his wife, Shannon, graduated from Medical School, they moved to Hawaii for her Residency, back to Wisconsin for her Fellowship, and finally to Texas where she now works as a Pediatric Surgeon at Driscoll Children’s Hospital. Along the way, they found time to have three kids (ages 16, 12, and 7) to which Kevin was, and still is, a stay-at-home Dad.
Kevin also volunteers in several non-profit organizations including the Nueces County Medical Alliance, the Texas Medical Association Alliance, the Driscoll Auxiliary, the Symphony Guild, and his Homeowners Associations. In the last two years, he started playing piano at events for these organizations and is finally using his talent for something! One day he hopes to record some albums professionally, so his kids and grandkids remember him for something.
Kevin mostly enjoys playing romantic piano and New Age music, but also loves classical music from the Romantic Period, with favorite composers including Chopin, Brahms, Rachmaninoff, and Liszt. Among his other interests are foreign languages, ballroom dancing, traveling, and bodybuilding.
